Doctor can evaluate the health of the optic nerve, retina, and blood vessels, determine the pressure inside your eye which increases the risk of glaucoma, control the corneal shape, determine the quality of eyesight, and select the appropriate contact lens by performing the special exams. Eye examinations are as following:
Slit Lamp Examination
Tonometry
Ophthalmoscopy
Refraction Test
Contact Lens Measurements
Corneal Topography
Schirmer’s Test (Dry Eye Test)
A flap is created using a microkeratome. The surgeon then folds back the hinged flap to access the stroma and reshape the cornea using an excimer laser.
A flap is created by using femtosecond laser. It makes the whole procedure completely blade free; so, recovery period is considerably shorter than Lasik.
The thin outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) is removed, using an alcohol solution. The underlying corneal stroma is then reshaped with an excimer laser.
It involves a little of both Lasik and PRK. The epithelium is separated from the underlying stromal layer, exposing the corneal stroma for laser reshaping.
Refractive errors are myopia (light rays focus at a point in front of the retina), hyperopia (light rays focus behind the retina), and astigmatism (light rays focus at multiple points). The goal of refractive eye surgery is to change the shape of the cornea so it does a better job of focusing images onto the retina for sharper vision. Refractive eye surgery is a surgical procedure that uses a cool (non-thermal) beam of light to gently reshape the cornea. The laser removes microscopic bits of tissue to flatten the cornea (to correct nearsightedness), steepen the cornea (to correct farsightedness) and/or smooth out corneal irregularities (to correct astigmatism).
